Ideology in action:
mehreenkasana: zedweiller: servile-masses-arise: Americans who laugh at Kim Jong iL’s silly titles, and then regularly refer to their own president as ‘the leader of the free world’. i’ll just put this here. heh.

Even though I can’t hate Hobbes because he supposedly the Grandfather of modern day liberalism, I kind of do hate him right now because he is ruining my week of Christmas. If I have to even read these few chapters of the Leviathan one more time, I’m going to start bawling my eyes out. Hobbes’ theory of natural law and the social contract theory are not an appropriate assessment...

popmuslim: When you dehumanize a person, you can justify any crime you carry out upon them. This serves to justify, encourage what is essentially an abhorrent foreign policy. And in the wider scheme it serves to exonerate any blame. So when you hear these words like ‘A million Iraqi people dead’ you are desensitized to the words ‘Iraqis dead’, you are desensitized to these words because it’s...

I’m quite suspicious of this essay I have due on Friday. We are to summarise Hobbes’ theory of natural law and the social contract theory but my entire summary can be based on three or four chapters of the first book of Leviathan, even though we were assigned the second book. Very suspicious and concerning, indeed. I feel I’m missing something here.

My boyfriend is buying me a toaster for xmas. It has four slots and a bagel setting. Clearly, he knows me quite well. On a bad day, it’s comforting to know that one can cook four pieces of toast simultaneously.

fuck it all. something shows up on my dash that I know is bullshit and I can’t even make a coherent post explaining why because I’m so fucking sick. Why can’t this ever happen when I’m not sick? If it did, this might actually be a quality blog.

I’ve been reading Max Weber’s Economy and Society and I’ve just realised that I’ve been compulsively highlighting every single line. It’s like, I know what I’m reading is somehow important but my brain just cannot translate what I’m reading into anything that makes sense. And for some reason, I just think that, if I highlight everything now, when I come...
